During the call, Abdelatty and Lavrov discussed regional cooperation and the expansion of ties between Cairo and Moscow, reaffirming their commitment to ongoing strategic projects under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement.
The ministers stressed the importance of close coordination to ensure the ministerial meeting, set to take place in Cairo, produces concrete outcomes aimed at boosting development and economic partnerships between Russia and African nations.
Abdelatty highlighted Egypt’s role as host, signalling Cairo’s interest in shaping the agenda to support sustainable development priorities across the continent.
The discussions follow a high-level meeting earlier Monday between President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu, where the leaders focused on regional crises, including the conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine, and ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
