Egypt second national team will contest in the Arab Cup in Qatar in December without players from Pyramids FC as the club’s domestic and continental commitments made their release impossible.

As a result, Head coach Helmy Toulan called up defender Ragab Nabil and fullback Karim El-Debes from Ceramica Cleopatra, along with forward Hossam Hassan from Modern Sport, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) confirmed.

They replace the Pyramids FC quartet, Mahmoud Gad, Ahmed Samy, Ahmed Atef, and Marwan Hamdy.

The change follows the Egyptian Professional League’s decision not to postpone Pyramids’ December fixtures, meaning the club will require their full squad as they compete in both domestic and CAF tournaments.

“The agreement with Pyramids FC was clear: if fixtures were postponed, we would include their players. If not, we wouldn’t. That is what happened. The matter is settled now,” Egypt second national team director Ahmed Hassan told FilGoal.com.

The second national, composed mainly of domestic-based and emerging players, will meet Algeria in two friendlies on 14 and 17 November as part of their final preparations.
