FM Abdelatty's remarks came during his visit to the headquarters of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) as part of his official trip to the country.

During a meeting in Ankara on Wednesday, Abdelatty highlighted promising investment opportunities at the SCZone, describing it as “a strategic hub for global trade,” according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He emphasized Egypt’s readiness to facilitate field visits for Turkish business delegations to explore the zone’s investment incentives and facilities.

The minister said he looked forward to strong participation from the Turkish private sector in the upcoming Egyptian-Turkish Economic Forum, scheduled for 2026.

He described the forum as a “significant platform” for expanding investment partnerships and launching joint projects, the statement added.

He added that Egyptian-Turkish economic relations are experiencing “unprecedented momentum,” driven by the strategic commitment of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to strengthen ties.

Abdelatty highlighted the two leaders’ shared goal of raising trade volume to $15 billion within the next five years, stressing the key role that business communities in both countries can play in achieving this target.

Discussions also focused on connecting Egyptian and Turkish resorts amid the increase in tourist numbers between the two countries in 2024.

Both sides said such a measure is expected to deepen people-to-people ties and support the tourism and investment sectors, the statement said.

Earlier on Wednesday, Minister Abdelatty arrived in Turkey for an official visit aimed at “enhancing bilateral relations and consulting on regional and international issues of mutual concern,” according to a foreign ministry statement.

During the visit, he is scheduled to meet senior Turkish officials and co-chair, alongside Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, the Joint Planning Group between the two countries’ foreign ministries.

The meeting will review progress on previously agreed initiatives and explore ways to boost cooperation in political, economic, investment, and cultural fields, reflecting the current momentum in bilateral relations.

After years of diplomatic strain, relations between Egypt and Turkey have improved, restoring full diplomatic ties and reciprocal ambassadorial appointments in 2023.

The rapprochement has been reinforced by visits by senior officials, including President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi’s visit to Ankara in September 2024 and President Erdoğan’s visit to Cairo in February 2024.

Turkish investments in Egypt have also grown, particularly in the SCZone.

The zone now hosts 18 Turkish companies across sectors like textiles, ready-made garments, and health products, with a total investment of around $793.8 million, according to Asharq Al-Awsat.
