46th Cairo International Film Festival 

Cairo International Film Festival launches on 12 November and continues until 21 November

The festival screens over 100 films across its numerous sections.

Beyond the glamour of screenings and red carpets, the 7th Cairo Industry Days Forum continues to evolve as a platform for professional exchange, training, and co-production. 

Built on strategic pillars designed to empower Arab cinema and broaden its global reach, the CID features Technology and New Media, highlighted by the launch of the Cairo XR & New Media section and panels exploring Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications in filmmaking, embracing innovation across all programs. 

In addition, the festival hosts a robust programme of masterclasses and seminars that transform the festival into a critical meeting point for industry reflection and artistic growth.

Paralleling the CIFF’s activities, several commercial films are released across Egyptian cinemas

- The Running Man, starring Lee Pace, Emilia Jones, Glen Powell, Michael Cera, William H. Macy, Daniel Ezra (screenings begin on 12 November)
- Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution, starring Jun'ya Enoki, Yûichi Nakamura (13 November)

Forever Is Now - exhibition
Pyramids Plateau

The exhibition opened on 11 November and will run until 6 December 6

Organized by Art D'Égypte, founded by Nadine Abdel Ghaffar.

This unique global artistic event merges contemporary art with the majesty of Egyptian history, showcasing the dynamic interaction between art, time, and space at one of the world’s foremost heritage sites. 

The current edition features a diverse array of global artists from various countries, including Italy, Portugal, France, Russia, Lebanon, and Egypt, among others. They all celebrate the dialogue between the past and the present, asserting that the eternal is manifested in the continuous Moment of Now.

Um Kalthoum musical
Thursday 13 and Friday 14 November, 9pm
Theatre of Movenpick, 6th of October City

The musical, produced by El Adl Group Studios, is the company’s debut production of a large-scale musical about Star of the East.

The show traces key moments in Um Kalthoum’s life — from her early days in a small village in Egypt’s Daqahliya to her rise in Cairo and transformation into one of the most celebrated voices in Egypt, the Arab World, and beyond.

The musical is directed by Ahmed Fouad, while the plot and lyrics are written by Medhat El Adl.

Besides known songs staged by Um Kalthoum, the performance also features music by Khaled El Kammar and Ehab Abdel Wahed.

Fustat Winter Festival
Starting Friday 14 November
Fustat Hills Park (Tilaal Al-Fustat) in Old Cairo

Organized by the Urban Development Fund under the slogan Fustat Is Back Again, the festival aims to echo the success of major summer events like the New Alamein Festival by bringing world-class entertainment to a strategic central location.

The festival’s launch is headlined by the opening concert on 14 November featuring the composer and pianist, Omar Khairat.

Following his inaugural show, the lineup features a selection of Egypt's most popular singers, such as Amal Maher, Tamer Ashour, Ahmed Saad, and rap star Marwan Moussa. 

Beyond the main concerts held at the park’s Arena Theatre, the multi-week festival will host a variety of cultural activities, including exhibitions, family-friendly events, traditional folklore performances, and interactive heritage stations.

Mahmoud El-Tohamy - music

Mahmoud El-Tohamy started his career in his childhood, following in the footsteps of his father, performing Sufi poetry chants in many prestigious venues in Egypt and the Arab World.

He has collaborated with Egyptian Grammy Award winner Fathy Salama, alongside various projects with music producers from younger generations, including ‘Rouh El-Maliha’ with Molotof, a key player in the Egyptian rap scene who is most known for Wegz hit Dorak Gai.

Ali Quandil - standup comedy

Ali Quandil is one of the stand-up comedy pioneers in Egypt. Over the last 10 years, he has presented 500 shows in more than 20 Egyptian cities, in addition to his shows in Dubai and The Comedy Club in Jeddah.

Quandil founded the first cultural centre for training the art of stand-up comedy in Egypt and the Arab world, through comedy workshops, attended by many of the Egyptian stand-up comedy scene's household names.

Cassette 90 band - music
Monday 17 November, 8pm
Room Art space, New Cairo

Cassette 90 is a band providing a highly successful series of nostalgia concerts.

The band consists of 8 musicians who revive 1990s Arabic hits, including songs by Mostafa Amar, Hisham Abbas, Alaa Abdelkhalek, and Ehab Tafwik.
