According to Egypt’s foreign ministry, the message also covered preparations for the second meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, co-chaired by both presidents and set to convene in Cairo in 2026.

Abdelatty praised the “positive momentum” in Egyptian-Turkish relations over the past two years and reaffirmed Cairo’s commitment to attracting more Turkish investment.

He highlighted opportunities under Egypt’s National Investment Strategy 2024–2030 and ongoing fiscal and legislative reforms aimed at raising bilateral trade to $15 billion within five years.

The minister proposed organising a forum for Egyptian and Turkish business leaders to boost joint ventures and partnerships between the two countries.

Abdelatty also conveyed El-Sisi’s condolences over the victims of a recent Turkish military plane crash, expressing Egypt’s solidarity with Ankara.

For his part, Erdoğan expressed appreciation for the Egyptian leadership and said he looked forward to visiting Cairo to co-chair the upcoming strategic council meeting. He reaffirmed Turkey’s interest in expanding trade and cooperation “to broader horizons.”

The war on Gaza and regional crises

The two sides also discussed the war in Gaza, with Abdelatty commending coordination between Egypt, Turkey, Qatar, and the United States in reaching the Sharm El-Sheikh peace agreement.

He stressed the need to consolidate the deal to ensure humanitarian access and prepare for Gaza’s reconstruction.

Abdelatty said Egypt was finalizing arrangements for the upcoming International Conference on Early Recovery and Reconstruction of Gaza, to be hosted in Cairo, and welcomed Turkish participation.

The ministers also reviewed ongoing consultations on a draft United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution concerning Gaza and a proposed International Stabilization Force. Both sides underlined the need to preserve the territorial unity of Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s position that establishing an independent Palestinian state along the 4 June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only path toward lasting regional security.

Sudan, Libya, and the Mediterranean

Talks also covered the Sudan crisis, where Abdelatty condemned atrocities in El-Fasher and called for urgent action to secure a political settlement that preserves the country’s unity and institutions.

On Libya, he reaffirmed Egypt’s support for a Libyan-led dialogue process to achieve stability, while discussions on the Eastern Mediterranean focused on strengthening regional cooperation to safeguard security and economic interests.

The Egyptian foreign ministry said the meeting reflected both countries’ commitment to maintaining close coordination and advancing their strategic partnership in support of regional stability.
