Adil Boulbina put Algeria ahead in the 31st minute with a powerful strike from inside the box.

Egypt levelled four minutes before halftime when an Algerian defender diverted a Mohamed Sherif cross into his own net.

Algeria regained the lead in the 67th minute through Nassim L'Ghoul, but Ceramica Cleopatra defender Ragab Nabil headed Egypt level again after a pinpoint cross from Mohamed Elneny.

Modern Sport striker Hossam Hassan secured the winner a minute before full time to seal the comeback.

Egypt started brightly, pressing high before falling behind, but maintained pressure to end the first half on level terms.

Algeria dominated the early stages of the second half and restored their lead before Egypt’s late rally.

Toulan used the match to rotate his squad and assess options ahead of the Arab Cup. The two teams will meet again on 17 November in Cairo.

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has opted to field a home-based B team for the Arab Cup, as the senior squad prepares for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2025), which is scheduled in Morocco from 21 December to 18 January.

In the Arab Cup, Egypt have been drawn in Group C alongside Jordan, the United Arab Emirates and the winner of the Mauritania vs. Kuwait qualifier.
