The drill simulated combined-arms operations to break through enemy defensive lines.

The phase featured coordinated air and ground manoeuvres, with Air Force reconnaissance and close-support sorties backing advancing troops under air-defence cover. Artillery units targeted enemy reserves and command-and-control centres.

Armoured and mechanized infantry forces pushed the assault forward, penetrating defensive positions with support from attack helicopters and anti-tank guided-missile teams tasked with countering counterattacks and preventing enemy forces from regrouping.

Special Forces, including paratroopers and Sa‘ka units, carried out raids and airborne insertions to strike designated targets.

The exercise was attended by Armed Forces Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, senior commanders, several governors, military academy cadets, media representatives, public figures, and tribal elders from Matrouh and Siwa, as well as students from Matrouh University.

Major General Staff Hatem Mostafa Zahran, commander of the Western Military Zone, said the zone’s personnel were committed to maintaining the highest levels of efficiency and combat readiness to carry out all assigned missions “in defence of the security and safety of the homeland.”

At the end of the exercise, Saqr conveyed President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi’s greetings and praised the forces’ performance, saying their advanced systems and high readiness enable them to safeguard Egypt’s security “along all strategic directions.”

He added that the drill sends a message of reassurance to the Egyptian people about the Armed Forces’ constant preparedness.

Earlier, Lieutenant General Khalifa witnessed a separate phase of the exercise and held discussions with commanders and officers to assess decision-making during operations.

The Armed Forces said the exercise demonstrated professionalism throughout its daytime and nighttime combat activities.
