Speaking at the second edition of the Data Centres and Cloud Exhibition 2025 (AIDC2 EXPO'25), held under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdelatty said the event reflects Egypt’s growing role as a hub for AI, digital infrastructure, and data-driven innovation.

According to a ministry statement, the exhibition brought together global experts, innovators, and entrepreneurs. Abdelatty expressed hope that the gathering would further strengthen Egypt’s position as a technological centre in the Middle East and Africa.

He highlighted the transformative impact of AI on sustainable development and public services, noting its expanding use in sectors including health, education, agriculture, and public administration.

Abdelatty also pointed to Egypt’s comprehensive national AI framework, which includes the establishment of the National Council for Artificial Intelligence and a multi-phase national strategy to promote AI adoption, support research, preserve cultural heritage, and build human capital.

Recent government efforts, he said, aim to strengthen good governance, enhance access to public data for individuals, businesses, and researchers, and improve coordination among state institutions through a unified data-exchange framework.

The foreign minister further underscored Egypt’s active engagement in shaping global AI governance. He cited Egypt’s participation in UN Security Council and General Assembly discussions, as well as its role in launching the Global Digital Compact in September 2024 to foster international dialogue on AI oversight.

Regionally, Egypt has led the development of both the Unified Arab Strategy for AI and the African Union Continental AI Strategy, and represents North Africa on the African Peace and Security Council’s advisory group examining AI’s implications for continental security.

During the exhibition, Abdelatty visited the Ministry of Education’s pavilion, where he was briefed on the use of digital technology to improve educational services.

He was also introduced to the new mobile application Your School in Egypt, set to launch before the next academic year, which aims to provide high-quality educational services to Egyptians abroad and strengthen their connection to the national curriculum and culture.
