Egyptian cultural evening in Athens strengthens bilateral cultural ties

The Egyptian Cultural Centre in Athens, under the patronage of the Ambassador of Egypt in Athens, Omar Amer, organized an Egyptian cultural evening.

The event featured a photographic exhibition showcasing the Grand Egyptian Museum alongside Egypt’s diverse tourist attractions and archaeological sites.

Representatives from the Egyptian Embassy in Athens, including Manal Ali, Director of the Egyptian Cultural Centre in Athens, as well as members of the Egyptian community in Greece, attended the gathering.

Ambassador Omar Amer delivered an address welcoming members of the Egyptian community, representatives of the Athens Governorate, and Egyptian and Greek media.

He stressed that the reopening of the Egyptian Cultural Office in Athens, together with the resumption of its cultural activities, highlights the significance of the cultural dimension in Egyptian–Greek relations. He described these relations as a comprehensive strategic partnership founded on the deep bonds between the Egyptian and Greek peoples.

Amer also commended the constructive role played by the Egyptian community in Greece, noting their consistent support for the embassy’s activities and their distinguished representation of Egypt abroad.

He emphasised that the coming period will see an expanded programme of cultural and social events aimed at strengthening ties with the Egyptian community, fostering ongoing communication with the embassy, and celebrating their experiences and success stories.

Highlighting the central role of youth, Amer described young Egyptians in Greece as “the architects of the future and one of Egypt’s most valued assets”. He noted that the embassy is committed to engaging with them and acquainting them with the comprehensive economic, developmental, and social revival currently underway in Egypt. He further underscored the political leadership’s strong interest in Egyptians abroad and its efforts to maintain their connection with the motherland.

Ambassador Amer concluded by praising the efforts of the Egyptian Cultural Centre in organising the evening and expressed his hope for more cultural events throughout the year, enriched by the presence and participation of the esteemed members of the Egyptian community.
