The Confederation of African Football (CAF) released the final list of nominees on Sunday, which saw Egypt’s goalkeeper, Ahmed El-Shennawy, dropped from contention for the Goalkeeper of the Year award.
In the race for Interclub Player of the Year, Pyramids winger Ibrahim Adel and Al Ahly midfielder Emam Ashour were notably absent from the final list after initially being included in the early rounds of nominations.
Despite Pyramids FC's strong presence in the awards, the Egypt national team missed out on a place in the National Team of the Year category.
However, there was some bright news for Egypt as national team captain and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah made it to the final list for the prestigious CAF Player of the Year award.
