A source at Al-Ahli (Baptist) Hospital said a Palestinian child was killed by Israeli fire in the Shuja’iyya neighbourhood in eastern Gaza City, where the attack coincided with an Israeli operation to demolish several buildings located behind the “yellow line.”
An emergency medical official also confirmed that a Palestinian man was killed by fire from an Israeli drone in the Al-Atatra area of northern Gaza.
Meanwhile, Al Jazeera reported that Israeli warplanes launched three consecutive strikes, backed by heavy artillery and tank fire, east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
Despite a ceasefire announced to take effect on 10 October, Israeli forces have continued to carry out strikes and level structures behind the yellow line — a boundary marked by yellow blocks and flags that separates areas under Israeli control from those under Hamas control inside Gaza.
Harsh winter deepens humanitarian suffering
Humanitarian conditions continue to deteriorate as Israel maintains severe restrictions on aid, violating key provisions of the ceasefire agreement governing the flow of supplies into Gaza.
The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) warned of rapidly worsening health and living conditions, saying children are increasingly vulnerable to disease amid the hardships of prolonged displacement.
The agency noted that thousands of families are sheltering in tents unfit for heavy rain or cold weather, while UNICEF-prepared aid remains stalled outside Gaza awaiting Israeli approval.
Displaced Palestinians face dire conditions inside makeshift shelters, with basic necessities scarce and Israeli authorities continuing to block the entry of mobile homes and materials needed to prepare adequate refuge sites.
The recent low-pressure storm that swept the Strip has worsened the suffering, particularly in the coastal Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis, which hosts the largest concentration of displaced people.
According to Gaza’s Government Media Office, nearly 93 percent of tents were damaged by the rains, leaving thousands exposed to the elements.
'Stop the violations, save the civilians'
Hamas urged the states that guaranteed the ceasefire to intervene and pressure Israel to comply with its humanitarian obligations, including the immediate reopening of border crossings and the implementation of the humanitarian access protocol.
“The escalating humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip requires urgent action to save civilians and allow the entry of aid and tents,” the group said in a Monday statement. “We hold the fascist Zionist occupation fully responsible for its continued violations of the agreement to end the war in Gaza.”
The Palestinian Ministry of Health said hospitals received 17 martyrs in the past 24 hours, including two killed by Israeli gunfire, and 15 bodies recovered from under the rubble. Rescue teams remain unable to reach many victims still trapped beneath destroyed buildings.
Since the most recent ceasefire on 10 October, Israel has killed at least 266 Palestinians and injured 635 others.
The death toll since Israel launched its genocidal war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, has risen to 69,483, with 170,706 wounded.
