Locally based players will report first, while foreign-based Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), Omar Marmoush (Manchester City), Mostafa Mohamed (Nantes), Hamdy Fathy (Al-Wakrah, Qatar) and Ibrahim Adel (Al-Jazira, UAE) are due to join next week after club commitments.

Ahly midfielder Emam Ashour and Pyramids FC winger Mostafa Fathi were both included despite limited minutes this season following injuries.

Ashour, who suffered a shoulder injury before contracting Hepatitis A, has played only 46 minutes across four matches.

Fathi has logged 287 minutes in six appearances after a series of muscle problems.

Zamalek defender Mohamed Ismail, who earned his first call-up in November, retained his place but has yet to make his debut.

Ahly defender Yasser Ibrahim returned to the squad after missing the November camp.

His teammate fullback Ahmed “Kouka” Nabil, a regular member under Hassan, was omitted, opening the door for Zamalek left back Ahmed Fatouh as he works back to form.

Hassan will submit his final 23-man list to the Confederation of African Football on 11 December, with teams permitted to name five additional standby players.

Egypt will play Nigeria in a friendly at Cairo Stadium on 14 December in their only warm-up match before the tournament.

The seven-times African champions, seeking their first continental title since 2010, were drawn in Group B with South Africa, Angola and Zimbabwe.

They reached the final in 2017 and 2021, losing to Cameroon and Senegal respectively.
