The Fund stated on Thursday that the initiative is part of its broader strategy to empower young people through mastering foreign languages, which have become essential in a highly competitive global job market.
Students representing all age groups are eligible to apply, including those from preparatory schools, college graduates, and recent degree holders. Registration will remain open until the first cohort is filled.
Participants will receive comprehensive training in the four core language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The students will also study professional terminology that relates to diverse job opportunities.
The Fund will deliver the training through its e-learning platform free of charge. The platform provides students with instructional videos, interactive practice sessions, progress-tracking tools, question banks, and periodic assessments.
Rasha Saad Sharaf, Secretary-General of the Education Development Fund, emphasized that providing professional, high-quality language training helps prepare students and graduates for the realities of global employment.
Egypt and Italy have enhanced cooperation on labour mobility and skills development in recent years within a long-standing framework governing legal migration and vocational training.
Cooperation on labour migration between Egypt and Italy dates back to 2005, when the two countries signed an agreement that established the legal basis for recruiting Egyptian workers for employment in Italy through regulated channels.
In April 2025, the two countries signed a new Memorandum of Understanding to promote decent work and worker mobility, including the establishment of an Egyptian Italian Employment Centre.
The centre connects Italian employers with trained Egyptian workers and supports the development of skills that align with Italy’s labour market needs.
Similarly, Egypt's Ministry of Labour signed a cooperation protocol with Compleo Staffing Services in Milan. The protocol provides Egyptian workers seeking work opportunities in Italy with structured recruitment and tailored training programmes.

Italy has also expanded technical cooperation with Egypt through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS). The agency supports vocational training initiatives in Egypt to enhance workforce skills and improve employment prospects, both locally and abroad.
Similarly, several EU-supported circular migration schemes, most notably the 2025 "NET-Work YOU" initiative, have created pathways for Egyptian youth to receive seasonal training and work placements in Italy, particularly in areas such as agriculture and agri-food processing, which suffer from labour shortage.
Together, these agreements form a comprehensive framework that offers safe, legal, and skills-based mobility options for Egyptian workers. They also meet the growing demand in the Italian labour market and support broader economic cooperation between the two countries.
