US President Donald Trump plans to announce before the end of the year that his Gaza peace plan is moving into its second phase, including the unveiling of a new governing structure for the enclave, Axios reported, citing two US officials and a Western source directly involved in the process.

A White House official told Axios that announcements related to the so-called Gaza's “Board of Peace” and further implementation of the Gaza peace plan will be made in the coming weeks.

“The Trump administration and our partners are working diligently to implement President Trump’s historic 20-point plan that will deliver security and prosperity to Gazans and the broader region,” the official said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to meet President Trump in the United States before the end of December to discuss the next phase of the Gaza agreement. Trump told Netanyahu in a phone call on Monday that he expects him to be a “better partner” on Gaza, according to Axios.

The second phase of the deal includes Israel withdrawing from additional parts of Gaza, the deployment of an International Stabilization Force (ISF), and the introduction of a new governing structure, including the Trump-led Board of Peace.

The UN Security Council recently authorized both the ISF and the board. US officials say they are in the final stages of assembling the international force and the new governance framework for Gaza, which they hope to roll out within two to three weeks.

Despite the ceasefire that took effect on 10 October—brokered by Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the United States and signed at the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit—Israel has continued to violate the truce with daily attacks across the Gaza Strip, killing at least 366 Palestinians and wounding hundreds more.

Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has reiterated its demand for the mediators and guarantor nations of the Gaza peace agreement to apply pressure on Israel.

The movement stated that it remains committed to the agreement, having handed over the body of one of the captives last Wednesday as part of the implementation of what was agreed upon, and will continue to work to fully conclude the captives exchange file.

Hamas further pointed out that the Israeli occupation continues to commit massacres against the residents of the Gaza Strip, is escalating the demolition of remaining homes, and persists in keeping the Rafah crossing closed.

The Palestinian territory remains gripped by a deep humanitarian crisis as Israel continues to restrict the delivery of aid, severely limiting access to essential supplies and services for the population.

Amnesty International released an extensive report saying Israel is continuing to commit genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip over a month after a ceasefire came into effect.

It warned that the truce has just created a “dangerous illusion” of improvement while conditions in Gaza remain catastrophic.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced on Thursday that the death toll from Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza had risen to more than 70,125 Palestinians, with 171,015 injured, mostly women and children.
