The strike spread across the city following calls by the Fatah movement to close commercial shops, while the Hebron Municipality and its workers’ union declared an internal work stoppage.
The Palestinian Red Crescent said its teams received the body of Ziyad Naim Abduljabbar Abu Dawoud, 55, from Israeli forces in Bab Al-Zawiya and transferred him to Hebron Governmental Hospital.
Eyewitnesses said Israeli forces continued to hold the body of 17-year-old Ahmad Khalil Al-Rajabi, transporting him in a military vehicle.
Israeli forces stationed in the city centre opened live fire on a vehicle in Bab Al-Zawiya and prevented ambulance crews from reaching him, WAFA news agency reported.
They also shot Abu Dawoud, an employee of Hebron Municipality, while he was on duty, leaving him to bleed until he died before handing his body over to the Red Crescent.
This escalation coincides with several pre-dawn raids by Israeli forces across the West Bank on Sunday, where eight Palestinians were detained.
Settler attacks
Amid mounting UN reports confirming a sharp surge in Israeli settler attacks since the start of the war in Gaza, an elderly woman, her grandson, and two foreign activists were injured when settlers attacked them in the village of Al-Mughayyer, east of Ramallah.
Local sources told WAFA news agency that a group of Israeli settlers assaulted the family of Rizq Abu Naim, beating his wife, Fadwa, and breaking her arm and striking their grandson, Rizq, on the head.
The sources added that settlers also attacked two foreign solidarity activists with sticks and stones while they were on village land. All four victims were taken to the hospital.
Israeli attacks in the West Bank have resulted in the killing of at least 1,090 Palestinians, the injury of around 11,000, and the arrest of more than 21,000 people since the start of Israel's genocidal war on Gaza.
