Abdelatty made the remarks during a phone call with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during which the two sides discussed a range of regional and international issues.

The Gaza agreement’s second phase, which involves the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the strip and a permanent ceasefire, is due to begin after the initial six-week period of the first phase, declared on 10 October.

During the call, the foreign minister also advocated for the establishment of an international stabilization force in Gaza to assume its mandated responsibilities under UN Security Council Resolution 2803, which is based on US President Donald Trump’s postwar Gaza plan.

He further stressed the need to ensure the safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza amid the worsening humanitarian situation, highlighting the importance of rebuilding the Strip’s infrastructure to meet urgent needs.

Meanwhile, the call also addressed other regional developments, including the Sudanese crisis, where the Egyptian FM reaffirmed Cairo’s firm position in support of Sudan’s unity, stability, and national institutions.

He stressed the need to unify international and regional efforts to advance de-escalation and reach a ceasefire, within the framework of the Quad efforts, and to ensure the flow of humanitarian aid.

Addressing the developments in Lebanon, the Egyptian FM reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast stance in support of Lebanon’s unity, sovereignty, security, and stability.

He highlighted the results of his recent visit to Beirut, carried out in implementation of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to support Lebanon and to explore ways to reduce tensions and enhance stability.

On Egyptian water security, Abdelatty stressed the importance of cooperation in accordance with the rules of international law to safeguard the interests of all Nile Basin countries.

He reiterated Cairo’s rejection of unilateral measures that violate international law in the Eastern Nile Basin, emphasizing that Egypt will take all necessary measures, in line with international law, to protect its water security.

Regarding the Ukrainian crisis, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s support for a peaceful and diplomatic settlement to the crisis, in a manner that achieves regional and international security and stability and spares people further suffering.

According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, the call also touched on bilateral ties, where Abdelatty and Rubio explored ways to support the Egyptian-US strategic partnership.

The Egyptian FM expressed Cairo’s appreciation for the Egypt-US longstanding partnership and the mutual interests it serves across various fields, affirming his keenness to continue close coordination with the US administration in a way that contributes to supporting security and stability in the Middle East during this critical phase.

During the call, both ministers stressed the importance of intensifying economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries and attracting more US investments to the Egyptian market.
