Egypt’s National Elections Authority (NEA) has completed repeat voting in 30 Phase-One constituencies annulled by court rulings, as it announces the timetable for next week’s Phase-Two runoff and the start of the election silence period.

During a press conference held on Thursday, NEA Executive Director Judge Ahmed Bendari announced that voting at the polling stations in the 30 constituencies, whose results had been annulled by court rulings during the first phase of the 2025 House of Representatives Elections, had ended after the last voter cast their ballot.

Moreover, Bendari stated that the NEA received 18 complaints on the second and final day of voting in the 30 annulled constituencies of the first phase.

The National Elections Authority (NEA) had set 10–11 December for in-country voting in the 30 constituencies after the High Administrative Court overturned earlier results and ordered a full repeat of the balloting.

A total of 623 candidates are competing for 58 seats in these constituencies.

Separately, the NEA announced at the conference that the runoff for the second phase will be held next week across 55 constituencies in 13 governorates.

The NEA added that the election silence period begins on 14 December, overseas voting runs from 15–16 December, and domestic voting from 17–18 December.

The Authority announced earlier on Thursday that it had received official notification of the death of parliamentary candidate Ahmed Abdel-Aal Ahmed, aka Ahmed Jaafar, who was running as an individual candidate in Cairo’s Fifth Constituency (Hadaeq El-Qubba) ahead of the runoff round.

Following an emergency session, the NEA decided to allow the next candidate in line with the largest number of votes, Mohamed Eid Abdullah (aka Sayed Eid), to compete in the runoff round in Cairo’s Fifth Constituency.
