
Angolan President João Lourenço receives Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty in Luanda. Egyptian Foreign Ministry
During a meeting in the Angolan capital, Luanda, Abdelatty commended the level of joint coordination on African Union (AU) issues, particularly peace and security in the Horn of Africa, Sudan, eastern Congo, and the Sahel region.
He underscored the importance of enhancing and intensifying consultations between both countries to achieve security and stability amid the internal developments and political transitions taking place in several African countries.
Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast position in support of preserving states’ sovereignty and the unity of their national institutions, and prioritizing political solutions to crises.
The Egyptian FM stressed Cairo’s rejection of any external interference in the continent’s affairs and any unilateral measures in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea regions that could heighten tensions or threaten regional security.

During the meeting, Abdelatty congratulated Lourenço on Angola’s successful current AU chairmanship, stressing Egypt’s commitment to continued coordination with Angola to ensure its chairmanship’s success during this critical time for Africa.
The Egyptian FM praised President Lourenço’s role as Champion of Peace and Reconciliation in Africa, highlighting its complementarity with the role of President El-Sisi as Champion of Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Development.
He reiterated Egypt’s commitment to continuing close coordination with Angola on various regional and global issues.

Egyptian-Angolan strategic relations
During the meeting, Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s deep appreciation for fraternal relations with Angola. He praised the two countries' shared commitment to promote and develop relations between them.
The Egyptian FM also praised the recent momentum in Egyptian-Angolan ties, emphasizing Cairo’s dedication to supporting Angola’s development plans.
Additionally, Abdelatty congratulated Lourenço on Luanda’s major success in hosting the 7th AU–EU Summit in November, as well as the Financing Summit for Africa's Infrastructure Development in October. He affirmed Cairo’s interest in strengthening joint coordination to mobilize the necessary financing for continental infrastructure projects.
Moreover, the Egyptian FM expressed Egyptian companies’ keenness to expand their investments in projects to be implemented within the Lobito Corridor and other strategic corridors in Angola. He underscored these companies' extensive experience in implementing major infrastructure projects across several African countries.
Furthermore, Abdelatty highlighted plans to establish an alliance of Egyptian companies for projects within the Lobito Corridor to enhance development and increase the efficiency of transport and logistics networks.

The Egyptian FM further affirmed Cairo's keenness to activate the memoranda of understanding signed in the fields of communications and information technology, housing and infrastructure, and mutual exemption from pharmaceutical registration.
He also looked forward to strengthening cooperation in the health and pharmaceutical sectors in support of Angola’s efforts to reach Maturity Level 3 in line with World Health Organisation (WHO) standards.
For his part, the Angolan president expressed his profound appreciation of President El-Sisi, affirming his pride in the fraternal relations between Egypt and Angola.
He expressed his eagerness to continue working with Egypt to enhance partnerships across various fields, strengthen cooperation, and advance bilateral relations.

Egypt-Angola Inaugural Joint Committee
According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, Abdelatty and his Angolan counterpart, Tete António, co-chaired the first session of the Egypt-Angola Joint Committee, with wide participation from government officials from both countries.
The committee aims to strengthen bilateral ties, coordinate cooperation, follow up on various areas of collaboration, and advance the Egypt-Angolan strategic partnership.
Both ministers also signed several memoranda of understanding in health, pharmaceuticals, civil aviation services, and communications and information technology.
According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, Abdelatty is scheduled to hold several meetings with senior Angolan officials to explore opportunities to expand partnerships and enhance cooperation.
The meetings also aim to address key regional and international issues, as well as coordinate positions on matters of mutual interest.
