Cairo reaffirmed its full support for the work of the UN agency as well as its readiness to continue cooperating with its new leadership in a way that enhances international solidarity and supports refugees, amidst Egypt’s hosting of over 10 million foreigners, including migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers.
The ministry said that the state is working to provide all essential services to those foreigners in recognition of its leading role in the region, in fulfilment of its international commitments, and in accordance with its humanitarian and ethical responsibilities toward all residents on its territory.
Egypt further expressed its appreciation and gratitude to the outgoing UN High Commissioner Filippo Grandi for his sincere efforts during his tenure, commending his significant contributions to supporting humanitarian causes and enhancing the international response to refugees and displaced persons.
