Egypt striker Mostafa Mohamed is doubtful for Friday’s Africa Cup of Nations Group match against South Africa after sustaining an ankle strain, team officials said on Tuesday.
The Nantes frontman was injured during Egypt’s 2-1 victory over Zimbabwe in their Group opener on Monday.
Egypt face South Africa with both teams targeting top spot in the group.
South Africa also opened their campaign with a 2-1 win over Angola earlier in the day.
Team doctor Mohamed Abou Al-Ela said fullback Mohamed Hamdi has a minor pelvic injury but is expected to be fit to start against Bafana Bafana.
Hamdi, who plays for Pyramids FC, was unable to complete the match against Zimbabwe and was replaced by Ahmed Fatouh for the final 10 minutes.
