Egypt will look to complete a perfect group-stage campaign when they face Angola on Monday, with coach Hossam Hassan expected to give opportunities to new faces.

The Pharaohs have secured a place in the competition’s round of 16 after back-to-back wins, beating Zimbabwe 2-1 before edging South Africa 1-0.

They top Group B with six points, three ahead of second-placed South Africa, who meet Zimbabwe, on one point, later on Monday.

Angola sit bottom of the group with one point and need a win to keep their hopes of qualification alive.

With qualification already assured, Egypt are likely to rotate their squad, a boost for Angola as the seven-time African champions may rest several regulars.

“I will introduce new faces during the game against Angola as it comes just 48 hours after today’s match,” Hassan said after Friday’s win over South Africa.

Hassan has used 18 players across the first two games and could field more on Monday.

“The game against Angola is special for us, as we are looking to gain the maximum technical benefit from it,” Hassan told a pre-match news conference on Sunday.

“Angola are a respectable and strong team. We respect all opponents and will play to win, as the match is also an opportunity to prepare for what lies ahead.”

Angola coach Patrice Beaumelle, however, warned that Egypt’s squad depth means they will remain a threat even with changes.

“Egypt have many quality players, and even if they rest some stars, they are still dangerous,” Beaumelle concluded.
