Gamal will be assisted by Ibrahim Salah and will take charge of the team for its next match against ZED FC in the group stage of the Egypt Capital Cup on 11 January.

The appointment follows Abdel Raouf’s exit, which left Zamalek without a head coach. During his spell in charge, the team played seven matches in all competitions, winning three, drawing three, and losing one.

Zamalek’s most recent match was a 3–0 defeat to Al Ittihad Alexandria, in which the club fielded its youth team under the supervision of Tamer Abdel Hamid.

The loss left Zamalek fifth in their group with four points.
