The ministers met in Cairo to discuss ways to enhance bilateral ties and coordinate positions on regional crises, including developments in Gaza and Sudan, according to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.
Their comments on Yemen come amid high-level talks hosted by Saudi Arabia to de-escalate tensions and reconcile rival factions within the country.
On the Palestinian issue, both ministers reaffirmed support for the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. They also called for lifting the siege on Gaza and other occupied territories to allow humanitarian aid and facilitate reconstruction.
Regarding Sudan, the ministers stressed the need to halt military escalation, protect civilians, and ensure aid delivery through the United Nations and partner organizations. They reiterated support for a Sudanese-led political process to restore long-term stability.
The meeting concluded with a pledge to maintain close coordination to strengthen bilateral ties and reinforce regional security, emphasizing adherence to international law, peaceful conflict resolution, and the protection of state sovereignty.
