The Board of Trustees of the Farouk Hosny Foundation for Culture and Arts inaugurated the museum on 10 January.
The opening drew prominent cultural, diplomatic, and political figures, highlighting Hosny’s enduring impact on Egyptian and Arab art. Several artists, intellectuals, and critics from Egypt and the Arab world also attended the inauguration.
The opening ceremony was attended by Ahmed Hanno, Minister of Culture, Sheikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, former President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Sheikh Ibrahim Centre, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the Arab League, Amr Moussa, politician and former Egyptian foreign minister, Fayza Abou El Naga, former planning minister and national security adviser to the Egyptian president, Dr. Ghada Waly, former solidarity minister and former Director-General of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Sameh Shoukry, former foreign minister, Eng. Naguib Sawiris, businessman and Vice Chariman of the Farouk Hosny Foundation for Culture and Arts, Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour, businessman, former MP, and former tourism minister, Dr. Ahmed Nazif, former Egyptian PM, Tarek El Molla, former petroleum minister, Hisham El Sherif, former local development minister, Mohamed Abou El Enein, businessman and MP, Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, as well as several public figures, business leaders, intellectuals, artists, critics, and senior officials of the Ministry of Culture.

The museum’s inauguration was accompanied by a classical music concert, followed by an official ceremony hosted by media professional Jasmine Taha Zaki, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Farouk Hosny Foundation.
During the ceremony, Eng. Naguib Sawiris, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Farouk Hosny Foundation for Culture and Arts, delivered a speech expressing his appreciation and warm welcome to the attendees. He extended his gratitude to artist Farouk Hosny for allowing his collections and artworks to be displayed freely to the public, particularly young people and art enthusiasts.

Sheikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa also delivered a speech expressing her pride in this prominent cultural event. She praised Farouk Hosny’s artistic journey and his profound contributions to the Egyptian and Arab cultural scenes.
For his part, Minister of Culture Ahmed Hanno affirmed that the museum represents a living model of the connection between artistic creativity and community cultural work, noting that Farouk Hosny’s contributions play a vital role in building aesthetic awareness and supporting new generations of artists and critics.

The event also featured the screening of a documentary film about the Farouk Hosny Museum, its vision and collections, which was warmly received by the audience.
The opening of the museum is the culmination of an exceptional artistic career spanning decades, during which Farouk Hosny presented a distinctive visual art experience that engaged with elements of Egyptian and global culture.

The museum houses a carefully curated selection of the artist’s works representing various phases and aesthetic transformations in his career. It also includes pieces previously exhibited in international and regional museums and galleries, offering visitors a comprehensive reading of a rich and evolving artistic journey.
Beyond the works of its founder, the museum also showcases Farouk Hosny’s personal collection of masterpieces from Egyptian and international art, featuring prominent names such as Antoni Tàpies, Giorgio de Chirico, Nicolas Poussin, Mahmoud Mokhtar, Mahmoud Said, Adam Henein, Seif Wanly, Mounir Canaan, and others.
The museum further includes a specialized library containing key artistic and literary references, a music library, and a dedicated media room for screening films and documentaries.

The Farouk Hosny Museum of Arts operates under the umbrella of the Farouk Hosny Foundation for Culture and Arts as a living cultural project that transcends mere exhibition of artworks. It aims to establish art as a sustainable human value and revive aesthetic dialogue between the artist and the public.
