The film has already gained significant international recognition. It was shortlisted for the Academy Awards’ International Feature Film category and nominated for a Golden Globe in the Non‑English Motion Picture category, making its BAFTA longlist placement another notable milestone.
The BAFTA nominations will be announced on Tuesday, 27 January, ahead of the prestigious awards ceremony on Sunday, 22 February.
Directed by Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania, The Voice of Hind Rajab is a powerful and unsettling reconstruction of the final tragic hours of six-year-old Hind Rajab, a Palestinian girl killed by Israeli forces in Gaza in January 2024 after being trapped in a car with her family.
Using the actual audio recording of Hind’s phone call from the car, the film creates a striking cinematic experience that conveys silence, fear, and waiting, transforming the child’s voice into a universal symbol of innocence confronting violence.
The film had its world premiere at the 82nd Venice Film Festival, where it won the Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize and received a standing ovation lasting more than 20 minutes, a record in the festival’s history.
