The meeting took place on the sidelines of the fifth consultative meeting aimed at improving coordination on peace efforts in Sudan.

The two ministers discussed developments in the Horn of Africa and reiterated their rejection and condemnation of Israel’s recognition of the so-called “Somaliland.”

According to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both sides stressed their firm support for Somalia’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity and rejected any unilateral actions that could undermine stability.

The ministers also affirmed their support for Somalia’s legitimate state institutions and rejected any attempts to create parallel entities that threaten national unity. They further dismissed any connection between this issue and plans to displace the Palestinian people.

Moreover, Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s strong support for Yemen’s unity and territorial integrity. He emphasized the need for a political solution through inclusive Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue to restore peace and stability and called for restraint and de-escalation.

Abdelatty welcomed the growing momentum in Egypt-Djibouti relations and the shared commitment to expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.

He emphasized the importance of continued coordination to implement joint projects in energy, infrastructure, and logistics, in line with Egypt’s efforts to strengthen trade ties, particularly following the opening of Banque Misr’s branch in Djibouti.

Both sides expressed their keenness to hold the next meeting of the Egypt-Djibouti Business Council to increase trade volumes in line with the strategic partnership between the two countries.

The meeting concluded with a joint commitment to continue coordinating and consulting on regional and international issues and to support efforts to strengthen peace, security, and stability across Africa, particularly in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region.
