Egypt’s national football team will receive $2.5 million in prize money for reaching the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations, despite a narrow 1–0 defeat to Senegal in the last-four stage of the tournament in Morocco.

The Pharaohs will now face Nigeria in the third-place playoff on Saturday.

The tournament, hosted by Morocco from 21 December to 18 January, features a significantly increased prize pool aimed at boosting competitiveness across African football.

Total prize money for the tournament has risen to $32 million, with teams earning amounts based on how far they progress. Semi-finalists who do not reach the final are guaranteed $2.5 million each.

Under the Confederation of African Football’s prize structure, teams eliminated in the quarter-finals receive $1.3 million, while those knocked out in the round of 16 earn $800,000. Third-placed teams that fail to advance from the group stage receive $700,000, and teams finishing fourth in their groups are awarded $500,000.

The tournament runner-up will take home $4 million, and the champions will earn $7 million.

Hosts Morocco will face Senegal in the final on Sunday, with the title and top prize at stake.
