The new ‘Rixos & Rixos Living – World Trade Centre Cairo’ project is Rixos’ debut project in the capital. It aims to utilize Downtown Cairo as an attraction to increase the country’s tourism numbers, according to Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, who witnessed the signing.
The project will consist of two towers, exhibition and conference facilities, a shopping mall, social, wellness, and dining spaces, with over 364 units, 176 Rixos Hotel rooms, and 188 service apartments. The project’s South Tower will open in 2027, while the North Tower will open in 2028. The investment ticket size wasn't disclosed.
Rixos manages an existing network consisting of several projects throughout Egypt’s coasts at Sharm El Sheikh, Alexandria, Alamein, and Hurghada.
Egypt is planning to raise investments in the tourism and antiquities sector by about 60 percent to EGP 116.2 billion ($2.4 billion) in the fiscal year 2025/26. The country has been seeking to expand hotel capacity amid rising tourist arrivals.
The cabinet recently approved a six-month extension of an EGP 50 billion tourism financing initiative, starting in October 2025, to support hotel development across the country.
A management and operation agreement was recently signed with India's luxury hotel Brand, Taj, to restore and reopen Cairo's historic Continental hotel as a five-star establishment with around 300 rooms. The project is part of Egypt's strategy to preserve and leverage architectural heritage to support tourism and create job opportunities.
