According to the decision, the holiday will apply to employees of ministries, government agencies, public authorities, local administration units, public sector companies, public business sector companies, and the private sector.

The decree stipulates that any exams falling on that date will continue as scheduled in accordance with dates set by the relevant authorities.

The holiday replaces Sunday, 25 January 2026, which marks the official anniversary of the occasion.

Egypt made Thursday an alternative day off for official holidays that fall midweek to give citizens a longer weekend.

The decision, which was first introduced on the seventh anniversary of the 30 June revolution in 2020, applies to all national holidays except for Eid Al-Fitr, Eid Al-Adha, and Christmas.
