In a joint statement, the two bodies said Israeli forces carried out overnight raids in the Jabal Jawhar neighbourhood, claiming that the operation was aimed at seizing weapons. They added that the operation would involve heavy military vehicle movements and would last for several days.

Local sources told the Palestinian news agency WAFA that Israeli forces arrested seven Palestinians, including a 13-year-old boy, from several towns in the Hebron area.

The sources said several neighbourhoods in the southern part of the city were closed off, with tight restrictions imposed on Palestinian movement, including curfews in some areas.

The sources also said Israeli forces raided and searched homes and assaulted residents.

Israel’s Channel 12 quoted sources as saying that hundreds of soldiers and special units had been deployed to Hebron as part of the operation.

Since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza, Israeli forces and settlers have carried out attacks across the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, killing at least 1,103 Palestinians, wounding nearly 11,000 others, and arresting more than 21,000 people, according to Palestinian figures.
