The WEF is taking place from 19 to 23 January under the theme “The Spirit of Dialogue."
El-Sisi is also set to meet US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the event.
The two leaders are expected to discuss the latest regional and international developments of mutual interest and ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination between Egypt and the United States in support of regional and global stability, according to a statement by Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy.
The forum will bring together heads of state and government, leaders of international and regional organizations, and senior representatives of major private-sector institutions.
Discussions are expected to focus on strengthening international cooperation, promoting global economic growth, expanding the role of technology and innovation, and investing in human capital, the statement read.
The planned meeting between El-Sisi and Trump comes at a sensitive diplomatic moment, following the announcement of Phase Two of the Gaza arrangements.
These talks aim to build on initial de-escalation measures and move towards a more lasting ceasefire and stabilization framework in the Gaza Strip.
Phase Two discussions are widely seen as more politically and security-sensitive, as they go beyond immediate humanitarian steps to address issues such as governance, security arrangements, reconstruction, and Gaza’s future administrative framework.
Egypt has played a key mediating role throughout the war, working closely with the United States, Qatar, and other international partners. It has also used its communication channels with Palestinian factions and Israel to support ceasefire efforts and facilitate humanitarian access.
The planned talks also follow recent signals of renewed Egypt–US coordination.
On Friday, Trump sent a letter to President El-Sisi commending him for his mediation efforts in Gaza and offering to resume US-led talks between Egypt and Ethiopia to address the long-standing dispute over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
"The United States affirms that no state in this region should unilaterally control the precious resources of the Nile and disadvantage its neighbours in the process,” President Trump wrote in the letter.
The annual WEF meeting is considered one of the world’s most influential global gatherings, bringing together political leaders, senior policymakers, business executives, international organizations, academics, and civil society representatives.
Founded in 1971, the forum has evolved into a key platform for high-level dialogue on global economic governance, geopolitical stability, development, and emerging global risks. The Davos meeting remains its flagship event.
The 2026 edition, being held under the theme “The Spirit of Dialogue,” reflects a renewed emphasis on diplomacy, multilateral cooperation, and consensus-building at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions, economic fragmentation, and rapid technological change.
The theme underscores the forum’s focus on dialogue as a tool to bridge political and economic divides, manage global crises, and advance shared solutions in areas such as sustainable growth, digital transformation, climate action, and human capital development.
