South Sinai's Nuweiba shaken by 3.5-magnitude earthquake, no casualties

A 3.5-magnitude earthquake struck the city of Nuweiba in Egypt’s South Sinai governorate early on Tuesday, residents said.

The National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics said stations of the National Seismic Network recorded the tremor about 128 kilometres from Sharm El‑Sheikh.

The quake was felt by residents and lasted for several seconds, according to local accounts.

South Sinai’s operations and crisis management centre said the tremor caused no injuries or material damage.
