The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) launched on Monday its 120th aid convoy to the Gaza Strip, carrying 7,600 tonnes of humanitarian, relief, and winter supplies to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people in the strip.

According to ERC, the national coordination body for aid delivery to Gaza, the convoy carried 4,660 tonnes of food parcels and flour, 1,485 tonnes of medical and relief supplies, 55 tonnes of baby formula, and 1,400 tonnes of fuel.

It also carried essential winter supplies to alleviate severe weather conditions, including 26,720 winter clothing items, 36,740 blankets, 240 mattresses, and 1,040 tents.

The Egyptian aid convoy comes as part of the ERC’s continuous humanitarian efforts, through 65,000 volunteers, to provide support to Gaza amid the Israeli brutal aggression.

Egypt, Gaza's primary lifeline since October 2023, has remained firmly committed to its humanitarian role in supporting the Palestinian people, delivering more than 800,000 tonnes of relief supplies to the Strip, representing around 70 percent of all aid sent to Gaza.

Harsh winter weather has worsened an already severe humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, where Palestinians face continued Israeli strikes, widespread displacement, a collapsed healthcare system, and an ongoing blockade despite a ceasefire agreement in place since October.

Meanwhile, Israel has continued its deadly blockade and violations of the ceasefire - brokered by Egypt, the US, Qatar, and Turkey in October,  further intensifying the suffering of Gaza’s residents and pushing the humanitarian crisis to catastrophic levels in the strip.
