A product of Ahly youth teams, the talented playmaker joined Zamalek in January 2024 from Modern Sport on a free transfer.
The 28-year-old delivered convincing performances in 62 appearances for Zamalek, emerging as one of the team’s key players as he helped the White Knights win the 2024 CAF Super Cup and the 2025 Egypt Cup.
Zamalek were forced to sell the classy midfielder as part of a club strategy to address persistent financial problems.
Maher made his senior international debut in 2024 and has earned four caps, featuring in three matches during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and one in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
He was also a member of Egypt’s U-23 Olympic team that won the 2019 Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Cairo.
Maher is Pyramids FC second winter signing, following Palestinian versatile midfielder Hamed Hamdan from Petrojet.
Pyramids FC are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the resumption of the Egyptian Premier League and the CAF Champions League.
The African champions sit second in Group A of the CAF Champions League with a maximum six points and will face group leaders RS Berkane of Morocco away from home on Saturday.
They also lie second in the Egyptian league table with 27 points from 12 matches, two points behind leaders Ceramica Cleopatra, who have played one game more.
Pyramids FC enjoyed a highly successful season, winning the CAF Champions League, the CAF Super Cup, and the FIFA African-Asian-Pacific Cup.
They missed out the chance on reaching the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final after losing 2-0 to Brazilian giants Flamengo in the semi-finals in December in Doha.
