The convoy included over 4,180 tonnes of food parcels and flour, 1,840 tonnes of medical and relief supplies, and around 1,200 tonnes of fuel, the ERC said. The organisation acts as Egypt’s national coordinator for aid deliveries to Gaza.
In response to freezing temperatures and harsh winter conditions, the shipment also included winter aid, such as 25,335 items of warm clothing, 54,150 blankets, 80 mattresses, and 1,370 tents.
The latest convoy comes as Israel continues attacking Gaza, in violation of the 10 October ceasefire brokered by Cairo, Doha, Ankara, and Washington, D.C., in addition to Tel Aviv's aid-related violations, which include severely restricting the entry of humanitarian assistance. Aid agencies have warned that shortages of fuel, shelter materials, and medical supplies are worsening living conditions across the Strip.
Gaza has been without a central electricity supply since the start of Israel’s war in October 2023, while fuel needed to operate generators remains critically scarce. Thousands of families also lack adequate blankets and winter clothing, leaving them exposed to extreme cold.
The International Committee of the Red Cross has warned that recent waves of heavy rainfall and freezing temperatures pose what it described as an “ultimate threat to survival” for Gaza’s population.
Israel’s restrictions on aid entry have contributed to a sharp deterioration in humanitarian conditions, with more than 100 children reported to have died over the past three months due to exposure, malnutrition, and lack of medical care, according to aid groups.
The ERC said the convoy forms part of its broader humanitarian operation in support of Gaza, involving around 65,000 volunteers.
Egypt has delivered more than 45,000 aid trucks to Gaza over the past two years, carrying over 800,000 tonnes of humanitarian supplies, which Egyptian authorities say account for about 70 percent of all aid entering the Strip.
In July, the ERC launched the Zad El-Ezza: From Egypt to Gaza initiative to expand aid deliveries. Previous convoys have included food, flour, water, baby formula, medicines, medical equipment, hygiene kits, shelter materials, and fuel.
