“In a bid to achieve the ambitions of Ismaily fans, the contract with coach Hamdi has been terminated amicably,” the club said in a statement on its official Facebook page.

The decision came one day after Thursday’s 2–1 league loss to Arab Contractors.

“The technical staff will take charge until the name of the new coach is announced in the coming hours,” the statement added.

The defeat worsened Ismaily’s position in the Egyptian Premier League table, with the team currently lying in 20th place, one spot from the bottom, on 10 points from 14 matches—22 points behind leaders Ceramica Cleopatra.

The 54-year-old Hamdi was appointed coach of the coastal club in July, aiming to improve the team’s prospects in the new season.

Hamdi, a former coach of USM Alger, Nahdat Berkane, Al-Salmiya SC, CS Constantine, JS Kabylie, Al-Khaldiya SC, and Young Africans SC, led the Dervishes in 19 matches across all competitions.

The team recorded four wins and two draws, losing the remaining 13 matches.
