In a statement, Ismaily’s board of directors stated that it would provide “all forms of support and assistance” to the new coach, stressing its commitment to creating a suitable environment to restore technical stability and help the team return to its “natural position” in line with the club’s history and stature.
Hamdi led the Dervishes in 19 matches across all competitions, recording four wins and two draws against 13 defeats.
El-Ashry takes over with Ismaily facing mounting pressure in the Egyptian Premier League after a 2–1 home defeat to Arab Contractors last week.
The loss saw Arab Contractors climb four places to 15th with 13 points, while Ismaily remain second from bottom in 20th place on 10 points.
The appointment follows the club’s decision to part ways amicably with Hamdi, who had been in charge since July.
