Any increase in mobile call and internet package prices will be tied to recent hikes in fuel, gas, and electricity prices, as well as rising operating and import costs, a senior Vodafone Egypt official said on Monday.

Ayman El-Saadany, head of external affairs at Vodafone Egypt, told Ahram Online that telecom operators are awaiting approval from the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) before implementing any price changes, adding that all four mobile operators in Egypt have submitted tariff adjustment requests.

He said the requests were driven by higher operating costs linked to energy price increases.

El-Saadany was speaking during a press briefing held on the sidelines of the Vodafone Media Forum in Aswan, which concludes on Tuesday.

On the government’s economic strategy prioritizing the information and communications technology (ICT) sector, El-Saadany said Vodafone Egypt’s contribution would focus on providing technological solutions to support the sector’s targeted 20 percent growth.

Commenting on the recent debate over ending the customs exemption for mobile phones brought into the country by Egyptian travellers, El-Saadany said telecom operators are discussing with the NTRA the possibility of manufacturing affordable devices locally to serve low- and middle-income segments.

On financial performance, El-Saadany said Vodafone Egypt recorded revenues of about EGP 55 billion in fiscal year 2025, up 46.1 percent from the previous year, attributing the growth to expansion and rising demand in the domestic market.

He said the results were supported by continued investment in network infrastructure, improved digital service quality, and the expansion of technology solutions for individual and corporate clients, adding that customer experience remains a priority.

Vodafone Egypt’s customer base has reached around 53 million mobile and internet users, making it the country’s largest operator by subscriber numbers, he said.

On digital financial services, El-Saadany explained that Vodafone Cash serves around 11 million users, with e-wallets increasingly used for payments, transfers, and bill settlements.

He also stated that Vodafone Egypt has partnered with about 300 healthcare facilities nationwide to provide digital solutions, benefiting over 13 million people.

El-Saadany said the company plans to continue investing in technology and innovation as part of Egypt’s broader digital transformation efforts.
