A Foreign Ministry statement said the message conveyed El-Sisi’s greetings and best wishes for Tunisia’s stability and prosperity.

It reiterated Cairo’s aim to boost bilateral cooperation for the benefit of both countries, highlighting their close historical ties and ongoing political alignment.

President Saied asked Abdelatty to convey his greetings to El-Sisi and praised the strong relationship and ongoing cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, Abdelatty welcomed the outcomes of the 18th session of the Egyptian-Tunisian Joint Higher Committee, held in Cairo from 8 to 11 September, saying they reflected a shared commitment to enhancing cooperation in priority sectors.

He also praised the results of the 16th session of the Joint Consular Committee, held in Tunis on 15 and 16 January, which he said demonstrated both sides’ keenness to advance cooperation at all levels, the statement added.

The talks covered ways to strengthen economic, trade, and investment ties. Abdelatty stressed the importance of increasing bilateral trade, encouraging mutual investments, and expanding business partnerships to unlock broader economic cooperation.

On regional issues, Abdelatty outlined Egypt’s efforts, coordinated with regional and international partners, to advance the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s plan on Gaza, support the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, and accelerate the deployment of an international stabilization force to consolidate the ceasefire.

He emphasized the need to maintain a steady flow of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, provide targeted support for early recovery and reconstruction, and alleviate the ongoing humanitarian crisis affecting civilians in the region.

The meeting also addressed developments in Libya. Abdelatty stressed that the trilateral consultation mechanism among Egypt, Tunisia, and Algeria is essential for coordinating regional efforts to support stability in Libya.

He reaffirmed Egypt’s support for a comprehensive, Libyan-led political settlement that preserves the country’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

They also discussed Sudan and the Horn of Africa, underlining the need for continued Cairo-Tunis coordination to promote regional security, stability, development, and prosperity.

Abdelatty’s meeting with Saied followed a ministerial meeting in Tunis with his Tunisian and Algerian counterparts and the United Nations (UN) Special Representative for Libya.

The ministers issued a statement affirming that Libya’s supreme national interest and the welfare of its people must underpin all efforts. They voiced support for regional and UN initiatives aimed at a comprehensive political settlement that preserves Libya’s unity and safeguards its resources.

They reiterated that the political process should be Libyan-led and inclusive, to build a unified state with stable institutions capable of delivering security, development, and prosperity.

The ministers called on Libyan parties to prioritize dialogue and work toward unifying military and security institutions, encouraging coordination with the Joint Military Committee to pave the way for simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections.
