The event features John Elkington, a pioneer of the global sustainability movement with more than 50 years of experience advising companies on sustainability, business and markets.
Elkington is the co-founder of Environmental Data Services (ENDS) Sustainability, John Elkington Associates and Volans, all of which remain active today. He has served on more than 80 boards and advisory boards and was a World Economic Forum faculty member from 2002 to 2008. Sun 1 Feb, 7pm: Join an engaging in-person book talk with renowned Egyptologist Aidan Dodson as he discusses his latest book, The Libyan Pharaohs of Egypt: Their Lives and Afterlives. Dodson offers a compelling and accessible account of the Libyan rulers who governed Egypt from the tenth through the seventh centuries BC, exploring their rise to power, political dynamics, monuments, and enduring legacy in this fascinating yet often overlooked period of ancient Egyptian history.
The conversation will be followed by a Q&A session and book signing.
The event will also be streamed live on the AUC Press Facebook page. (Attendance is free and open to the public with no pre-registration required).
Wed 4, 6pm – 8pm: “Future Palestine: Implementing the Right of Return” talk will feature speaker Salman H. Abu Sitta, Founder and President of Palestine Land Society in London, dedicated to the documentation of Palestine's land and people. Moderated by Rabab El-Mahdi ’96, ’98, Associate Professor, Department of Political Science Director, Alternative Policy Solutions. The talk will be followed by the opening of the exhibition “Palestine Maps in 2000 Years” at Margo Veillon Gallery of Modern Egyptian Art, AUC Tahrir Square. The exhibition will be open until 19 February from 10am to 8pm (weekdays).
