The total budget shortfall stood at EGP 881.7 billion (roughly $18.7 billion), making up 4.2 percent of GDP, versus EGP 708.8 billion (about $15 billion), or 4 percent of GDP, in the prior year's equivalent period.
Tax collection grew significantly by approximately 32 percent to EGP 1.204 trillion (around $25.6 billion), up from EGP 912.4 billion (approximately $19.4 billion) in the same period last year, according to the ministry's figures.
This growth reflected increases across various tax categories, driven by strengthened ties with businesses and ongoing benefits from tax reform initiatives, which officials characterize as continuous efforts.
Overall government revenues climbed 30.2 percent to EGP 1.381 trillion (roughly $29.3 billion), while expenditures grew 26.9 percent to EGP 2.235 trillion (about $47.5 billion) over this timeframe.
