In a brief statement, Petrojet, an Egyptian Premier League side, thanked the 27-year-old for his service during his time with the Petroleum Club, as Riyad prepares to begin a new chapter with the Red Devils.
According to local reports, Ahly had completed the deal for a reported fee of EGP 30, to be paid in two instalments of 15 million pounds, with a further five million in bonuses linked to winning the CAF Champions League.
Riyad becomes Ahly’s fifth signing of the winter transfer window, following the arrivals of Marwan Osman, Ahmed Eid, Amr El-Gazzar and Moroccan defender Youssef Belammari.
The defender joined Petrojet in the summer of 2021 from Wadi Degla and went on to make 43 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice.
Ahly are in third place with 26 points, one point behind second-placed Pyramids FC and six behind leaders Ceramica Cleopatra, who have played one more game.
