“There are no military solutions to the various challenges facing the region,” Abdelatty said, stressing that only diplomacy and dialogue can prevent the area from sliding into deeper instability.
The foreign minister made the remarks during a series of phone calls with key regional and international figures, including Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff.
The consultations also included Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi.
Abdelatty’s calls come amid rising regional tensions, as US President Donald Trump has repeatedly threatened military action against Iran should it expand its nuclear activities.
Iran said on Friday it was ready for dialogue to ease tensions over its nuclear programme, but added that there were no concrete plans for talks with the United States.
Abdelatty underscored the urgent need to bring Washington and Tehran back to the negotiating table, according to a foreign ministry statement.
He proposed that any settlement be based on mutual respect and shared interests to ensure lasting regional security.
The statement noted that all parties involved in the high-level contacts agreed to maintain close coordination and continue prioritizing diplomatic solutions over military responses to the region’s conflicts.
