Young Africans took the lead in first-half injury time through Hamad Ibrahim, who capitalized on a deflected ball to score from close range.

However,  Ahly equalized in the 60th minute, with Alio Dieng finishing off a brilliant assist from Mahmoud 'Trezeguet' Hassan to draw level.

The draw saw the Cairo giants stay atop Group B with 8 points, three clear of second-place Young Africans. Morocco’s FAR Rabat and Algeria’s JS Kabylie are both on 2 points.

Ahly started the game cautiously, with Young Africans squandering early chances.

Allan Okello and Pacome Zouzoua both had opportunities, but Ahly goalkeeper Mostafa Shobier was up to the task, producing key saves.

In the 17th minute, Trezeguet’s individual effort narrowly missed the target. Zouzoua came close in the 25th minute, but Shobier denied him in a one-on-one situation.

In the second half, Ahly upped the pressure, and Dieng’s equalizer came off a perfect pass from Trezeguet, ensuring the game ended in a draw.

Ahly coach Jess Thorup made tactical changes, bringing on Achraf Bencharki and Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane for Taher Mohamed and Aliou Dieng.

The Tanzanian side pushed for a second goal, but Ahly's defense held firm to secure the point.

Ahly will next face JS Kabylie in the fifth round on Friday, 6 February.
