Ahly were stunned early when NBE Club winger Mostafa Shalaby opened the scoring in the 11th minute, setting the tone for a first half largely dominated by the hosts.

NBE Club came close to extending their lead when Ahmed Reda headed over from close range, while Salah Bouchama saw his effort cleared off the line by an Ahly defender.

Ahly suffered a setback midway through the first half as Ahmed “Zizo” Sayed was forced off after 30 minutes with a hamstring injury and replaced by Hussein El-Shahat.

The visitors improved after the break, particularly following a triple substitution in the 65th minute that saw new signing Leltisin Camoes, Aliou Dieng and Mohamed Hany replace Ahmed Nabil, Marwan Attia and Ahmed Eid.

Trezeguet threatened repeatedly, cutting inside to attempt his trademark curling shot on three occasions.

Two efforts went wide, while a third was saved by the NBE Club goalkeeper before Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane fired the rebound over the bar.

The fourth attempt proved decisive, as Trezeguet curled a right-footed effort from the left flank into the bottom corner to cancel out NBE Club’s lead with 10 minutes remaining.

This goal is the sixth for the international winger to go level with Ceramica Cleopatra winger Sodiq Awujoola at the top of the league top scorers chart.

Camoes nearly marked his debut with a winner late on but squandered a clear chance, sending his shot wide with the goal at his mercy.

Ahly pushed for a late winner but were held by a disciplined NBE Club side content to share the points.

The draw leaves Ahly third in the standings with 27 points, five behind leaders Ceramica Cleopatra, who have played one match more. NBE Club remain ninth with 21 points.
