President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi called for deepening economic ties with Türkiye, setting a target to raise bilateral trade to $15 billion and expand Turkish investments across key sectors, during the closing session of the Egypt–Türkiye Business Forum in Cairo, attended by him and his Turkish counterpart, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The forum, held on the sidelines of Erdoğan’s visit to Egypt, brought together more than 460 Turkish business leaders and around 270 representatives from the Egyptian private sector.

Discussions focused on enhancing trade, exploring new investment opportunities, and strengthening industrial cooperation.

“The economic relations between Egypt and Türkiye are built on solid and practical foundations. The complementary nature of our economies, our geographical and cultural proximity, and the political will on both sides have brought our trade and investment to unprecedented levels,” El-Sisi said during the closing session.

“Our trade volume has reached around $9 billion, and we aim to increase it to $15 billion or more, making Egypt Türkiye's top trade partner in Africa,” he said.

He highlighted that Turkish investments in Egypt have surpassed $4 billion, reflecting joint efforts by governments and the business community.

“We are committed to working together to attract more Turkish investment, particularly in priority industrial sectors, leveraging Egypt’s structural reforms, strategic location, and free trade agreements to create value and job opportunities,” El-Sisi added.

The president also emphasized Egypt’s economic reforms, noting that the country achieved a 5.3 percent GDP growth rate in the first quarter of fiscal year 2025–2026, with private sector investments accounting for 66 percent of total investment.

He underlined the importance of logistics and infrastructure development, including investments exceeding $550 billion since 2014 in roads, energy, water, and smart cities, alongside efforts to transform Egypt into a global logistics hub through ports such as Alexandria, Sokhna, and East Port Said.

El-Sisi concluded by calling on business communities in both countries to focus on industrial cooperation in high-tech sectors such as automotive, chemicals, and household appliances; build regional logistics partnerships; advance green manufacturing; and maintain direct communication through sectoral working groups to turn opportunities into actionable projects.
