The Whites will be hosted by their Zambian counterparts in the fifth round of the continental tournament group stage.
“ZESCO game is very important for Zamalek in the Confederation Cup,” Gamal said in the pre-match press conference on Saturday.
On 1 February, Zamalek secured a 2-1 victory over Masry in the fourth round overtaking their Egyptian rivals to claim the top spot in Group D.
Zamalek now lead the group standings with eight points, one ahead of second-placed Al Masry. South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs sit third with seven points, while Zambia’s Zesco United remain bottom without a point.
Gamal insisted that his team prepared well for the game, hailing the importance of ending the group stage as group leaders.
“Our main target is to win on Sunday and then beating Kaizer Chiefs in the last round to finish as group leaders as this will make our way easier in the next round,” the coach explained.
“Zamalek targets the group summit since the group stage start and the draw against Kaizer Chiefs affected the situation a little bit but then we managed to lead the group and keep our position,” he added
Gamal also expressed his confidence in his players’ ability to achieve the target, heaping praise on the high quality of Zesco players and wishing a good game from both teams.
