Egypt on Sunday strongly condemned attacks on humanitarian aid convoys and medical facilities in Sudan, warning that the violence is worsening an already severe humanitarian crisis.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) targeted a World Food Programme (WFP) aid convoy in a drone attack in Sudan’s North Kordofan state on Friday, destroying food assistance designated for displaced families, a doctors’ group said, a day before a separate strike killed at least 24 displaced civilians, including eight children.

The Sudan Doctors Network said the latter attack took place on Saturday near the city of Rahad, when the RSF carried out a drone strike on a vehicle carrying families displaced by fighting in the Dubeiker area. Two of the children killed were infants, the group said.

Cairo said the attacks mark a dangerous escalation, directly targeting humanitarian corridors and obstructing relief operations.

The ministry also condemned an attack on a medical facility in the Kordofan region that left dozens dead or wounded, including healthcare workers, calling it a grave violation of international humanitarian law, which protects civilians, medical facilities, and humanitarian staff, and strictly prohibits targeting them under any circumstances.

Egypt warned that repeated attacks on aid and healthcare infrastructure are accelerating Sudan’s humanitarian catastrophe, with displacement rising and food insecurity spreading across large parts of the country.

It called for unimpeded humanitarian access, saying the delivery of aid is critical to easing civilian suffering and creating conditions for de-escalation.

Egypt said it considers Sudan’s unity and territorial integrity a core concern, warning that state collapse or fragmentation would threaten regional stability and Egypt’s southern borders.

Egyptian officials have repeatedly rejected scenarios that could entrench militia rule or produce parallel authorities, arguing such outcomes would prolong conflict and undermine any political settlement. Cairo has also opposed legitimizing armed groups outside a unified national framework.

The statement reiterated Egypt’s position that there is no military solution to the conflict and that any durable settlement must be based on an inclusive, Sudanese-led political process, supported by coordinated regional and international efforts, including through the African Union (AU).

Egypt also warned against Sudan becoming a site for foreign military entrenchment or proxy competition, saying such dynamics would further internationalize the conflict and complicate efforts to restore stability.
