Abdelatty spoke with Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos as part of ongoing coordination between the two countries. The two ministers also exchanged views on regional developments, according to a statement by Egypt’s Foreign Ministry.
Abdelatty said Egypt is keen to deepen coordination with Cyprus at all levels, particularly as Nicosia currently holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union, and praised its support for Egypt within the European Union (EU) institutions.
He stressed the need to move quickly on existing agreements, including activating the labour employment MoU, and to strengthen economic and investment ties.
Abdelatty also highlighted the trilateral cooperation framework linking Egypt, Cyprus, and Greece, calling for expanded partnerships in trade, investment, and tourism, as well as greater private-sector involvement.
The ministers discussed regional tensions and efforts to de-escalate them. Abdelatty outlined Egypt’s diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing escalation and said broader regional and international engagement was needed to advance political solutions.
He also reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to continued consultations toward a consensual settlement of the Iranian nuclear file that addresses the concerns of all parties and contributes to regional security.
On Sunday, Abdelatty held a separate phone call with Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis, during which they discussed strengthening the Egypt-Greece strategic partnership and reviewed regional developments.
