Egypt, Tunisia discuss boosting military cooperation

Minister of Defence and Military Production Abdel-Meguid Saqr discussed ways to enhance military cooperation with Tunisia during the visit of his counterpart, Minister of National Defence Khaled Sehili, to Egypt, the Egyptian Armed Forces said on Monday.

Sehili was received with an official welcoming ceremony at the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Defence, where the national anthems of both countries were played.

The meeting focused on issues of mutual interest, ways to enhance military cooperation between the two sides, and key regional and international developments.

The two ministers also co-chaired the closing session of the 18th meeting of the Egyptian-Tunisian Military Cooperation Committee, which addressed several issues related to strengthening cooperation frameworks and exchanging expertise across various military fields.

 

Saqr highlighted the deep-rooted historical ties between Egypt and Tunisia and reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ commitment to further advancing military collaboration.

 

For his part, Sehili praised the strong, longstanding bilateral relations and expressed hope for expanded cooperation between the armed forces of both nations in the near future.

The meeting and closing session were attended by Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Ahmed Khalifa and senior military commanders from both countries
